The Passion Triangle: A Tanka Sequence

what is
on your mind, in your heart
she stares at me --
I keep dreaming of myself
standing at the edge of the world

talking in her sleep

do you love me ...
I remember
the farewell photo of you
amid forget-me-
nots

you have never
completely let me in
she yells out
while on top of me...
you're in and out of my mind

she laments

my knight in shining armor
turns out
to be a frog...
a lump in my throat

sand castle
built in that shining summer
for three of us --
now all that remains
is my footprints in new snow
