Her Fist Up Tanka

the White House
silhouetted against the sunset —
with her fist up
while facing lines of riot police
a black woman takes a knee

Note: This tanka is inspired by the 14th and 17th photos in this collection of 25 Of The Most Powerful Photos From Anti-Racism Marches Following The Death Of George Floyd, and written in response to Donald Trump's "vicious dogs" and "ominous weapons" tweet.  And it is a sequel to my haiku below published on NeverEnding Story this past Saturday:

gathering dark
White House encircled by chanting,
black lives matter ...

Added: written in response to comments on my political poetry

you're too sensitive
lingering in the cold air
the smell of tear gas
