Seeking Enlightenment

It is said that before studying Zen, one sees a mountain as a mountain, and a river as a river. After practicing Zen for several years, one comes to see that a mountain is not a mountain, and a river is not a river. Finally, when having a firm grip on Zen, yet still with the beginner’s mind, one once again sees a mountain as a mountain, and a river as a river.
